INSIDE BROADWAY’S 25th ANNIVERSARY SCHOOL TOUR OF CINDERELLA TO BE PRESENTED AT NYC SCHOOLS IN MARCH AND APRIL

Inside Broadway, now celebrating its 25th anniversary season of introducing young audiences to Broadway musicals, will present Rodgers & Hammerstein’s Cinderella at public schools New York City-wide as part of its 2007 school tour.. The Cinderella anniversary tour will also feature special guest appearances by prominent New York City officials (to be announced), who have provided vital support to the company.

 

Cinderella, the classic fairy tale with music by Richard Rodgers and book and lyrics by Oscar Hammerstein II, is directed and choreographed by Cheryl Swift, with scenic design by David Rigler, costume design by Karl Ruckdeschel , musical direction by John Bowen and production stage management by Scott Earley.  The professional Equity cast features Kenyon Adams, Olivia Braza, Gary Brintz, Elizabeth Daniels, Courtney Fabrizio and Sarah Spigelman.

 

Cinderella, celebrating its own 50th anniversary, marks the third Richard Rodgers show for Inside Broadway; its Richard Rodgers’ Broadway, in 2002, caused the New York Times to say “Rodgers continues to enchant and entertain, and he couldn’t ask for better cheerleaders, in all senses of the word.” Other productions of Inside Broadway have included Bye Bye Birdie, On the Town, The Pirates of Penzance, Kiss Me, Kate, Smokey Joe’s Cafe, Sophisticated Ladies, Irving Berlin’s Land That I Love and Free to Be You and Me.  All shows provide student study guides, teacher lesson plans, toured to schools throughout the five boroughs and have performed for the general public on the group’s Weekend Family Series.

Inside Broadway was founded by its Executive Director Michael Presser in 1982 at the invitation of Bernard Jacobs, late President of The Shubert Organization. Today it serves an audience of over 25,000 New York City public school students, teachers and families.  Its educational programs include theatre arts workshops and professional touring productions of Broadway classics that annually visit over 75 public schools throughout the five boroughs of the city.  Inside Broadway is dedicated to helping develop and educate the future audience for live Broadway theatre.
