In Your Classroom

Invite an actor, director or choreographer into your classroom! Our Guest Artist Residency program gets your students on their feet and participating in hands-on in-class activities. Your students will truly enjoy these theatrical experiences!

Shakespeare Shakeup
There is no better way to study the world’s greatest playwright then to
speak his speech. Your students will participate in the study of text and
character through a variety of theatre exercises.

Playwriting
Where does a play start? With an idea, a pencil and a piece of paper of course! Students participating in this program will learn the concepts of playwriting by working with a professional dramatist. Watch your students write their own play and then perform it for the school community.

Storytelling and Folktales
Students dramatically present their favorite story, poem, or dramatic text using verbal and nonverbal actions. The students will utilize different stories and adapt them for presentation on the school auditorium stage.

Intro to Musical Theatre
Push back the desks and get ready to move! An Inside Broadway artist will teach you and your students music and choreography using selections from Broadway shows!

Dance Around the Word
This fun cultural experience introduces your students to music and movement from other countries. At the end of this residency your students will perform their cultural presentation for the entire school community. What a great experience!!!

These activites address New York State Learning Standards for the Arts, Social Studies, and the English Arts and The New York City Department of Education Blueprint.
